It all started with one wish...

In 1980, seven-year-old Chris Greicius had one wish: to be a police officer. Unlike most children, who have plenty of time to realize their dreams, Chris was battling leukemia and his prognosis was not good. Chris was sworn in as the first and only honorary officer in Arizona history, presented with an official badge and given a helicopter tour of Phoenix by his fellow officers. But it wasn't just that he got to be a police officer. Chris' wish gave him back what the illness had taken away: HOPE. STRENGTH. JOY.

A little boy leaves a huge legacy...

Chris never fathomed that his dream would serve as the inspiration for the largest wish-granting organization in the world. But he understood the power of a wish. Now, the Make-A-Wish Foundation continues to improve the quality of life for thousands of children with life threatening illnesses around the world each year.

Twenty-Seven Years Later...

Since its beginning in 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has expanded into 69 chapters within the the United States and has 27 international affiliates. The Foundation is most proud of the fact that it has been able to grant more than 150,000 wishes and continues to grant more each day. The Foundation's mission of granting wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy has enabled it to make a difference in the life of children facing life threatening medical conditions and to make their greatest wishes come true.

In our twelfth year, we have granted more than 3,500 wishes! We will grant more than 400 wishes in 2007 through the commitment and dedication of our community and the work of board members, trained volunteers and our administrative team throughout Georgia and Alabama.
