Athens Stories of Light Campaign
The Greater Athens Area Stories of Light Campaign, currently in its fifth year, continues to reach new heights! With the help of the University of Georgia’s Chi Omega Sorority, UGA WishMakers on Campus, the Athens-Oconee Junior Women's Club and the Junior League of Athens, the Athens campaign is looking for another successful campaign. This year, we’ve set our goals high and hope to raise $50,000, enough to sponsor the wishes of 10 children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The campaign runs Dec. 5-17. During those two weeks, you’ll hear the wish stories of these children Magic 102.1 FM. For every $5,000 raised (the average cost of a wish), a floor of the Bank of America building will be lit (with the support of Galis-Kimbrough Investment Properties), turning it into a giant “wish thermometer.” Other sponsors include WNEG-TV, The Athens Banner-Herald and The Melting Point at The Foundry Park Inn and Spa.
There are several ways to contribute to this year’s Athens’ Stories of Light campaign, but the big event happens Dec. 17 at The Melting Point in downtown Athens. The Heidi Hensley Band and The Strawberry Flats will perform a benefit concert for Stories of Light and The Make a Wish Foundation. You can purchase tickets at www.meltingpointathens.com or by calling Jenny Grant Terrell at 706-354-5084.
